Beckwourth Peak Fire Protection District (BPFPD) is pleased to announce the award of a $3,550 grant from the California Fire Foundation (CFF) facilitating a badly needed communication suite upgrade. Purchase and installation of a Bendix-King KMG-150 mobile radio in the District’s Command Vehicle enhances the District’s incident communications with other agencies including the USFS and CAL FIRE. The upgraded communications allow us to be more versatile when establishing an incident command post and coordinating firefighters and sometimes aircraft at the scene of a fire or other major emergency (vehicle accidents with multiple injuries, hazardous materials spills, and remote area rescues.)

The California Fire Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization, provides emotional and financial assistance to families of fallen firefighters, firefighters, and the communities they protect. Formed in 1987 by California Professional Firefighters, the California Fire Foundation’s mandate includes an array of survivor assistance projects and community initiatives including:

·       Sponsoring and maintaining the California Firefighters Memorial

·       Providing emergency support to Firefighters and Their Families

·       Providing Victim Assistance and relief to survivors of fire or other natural disasters

·       Supplies public safety resources to enhance and improve the communities of California.
